Common State Police Trap on Toll Road

This is a common State Police speed-trap on the Toll Road they hide behind the barrels under a overpass and I/O approaching traffic you don’t see them until it’s too late. We got a few alerts before we got the camera rolling, just a example of what to lookout for on the 80/90 toll road.

K-band radar trap with scanner heads-up on CB channel 19 + Escort 8500

Another example of how a scanner on the trucker’s channel 19 can provide ample heads-up to radar traps. In this instance, about 60 seconds notice before I got to the LEO. As it turns out, he was likely hitting traffic in the other direction, but he was very well hidden. Note the angle he used, and probable co-sign error in the readings he was getting.

Trapster vs Escort 9500ix default notification with Pima County Speed Trap Signage placement

This is a comparison of the Trapster system on a Windows mobile device (Samsung Omnia) and Trapster on a Garmin PND (Garmin 265WT) and the Escort 9500ix Radar detector. All Trapster devices were set at default distance notifications. The Escort 9500ix has no adjustment. This video also indicates the signage placement of the signs associated with the Pima County’s Speed Enforcement Zone Until you get fairl close to the signs you can not clearly see the Speed Limit Sign.

Houston PD shooting Instant On Ka radar (for a change)

After nearly two years of pervasive laser strikes I picked up a Ka strike this morning from HPD shotting Ka 35.500 (Kustom Signals gun) behind an overpass.
This does NOT go down as a save however, since there were two cars working together the first LEO had a customer so I was already at the PSL. Although I started to ramp back up and catch that Mercedes I saw the roof of the second Crown Vic a second or so before he shot. So it’s an “eye” save so it stays off the books.

It’s getting to where I could post one of these a week. HPD running another “spotter” car/chase car configuration. This crew was fairly liberal with they’re citing of cross streets and landmarks so finding them was easy. Also, finally got the spotter car. Unmarked Dodge Charger. Big surprise.

Not a save since I don’t speed on surface streets. But a nice double shot from an HPD officer shooting from a side street on Westpark. I think this is a very good shooting position and a place that needs better speeding enforcement.
