9500ix vs. Brentwood PD Instant-On K Band Radar
—First Technical Save—
While headed north on Franklin Pike in Brentwood, I got 2 quick blips of K radar. Spec Display and ramp-up confirmed that it was probably police radar. As I passed him I noticed his driver window was down. Turned into the parking lot and also noticed he was using an Ultralyte laser gun for whatever reason (not in video). I was going 46 in 35 zone and was not the original targeted car so that is why it is a save. Verrry Naahhcee. Wasn’t to happy to see the BPD car also using laser for the first time when I circled around. Nashville Metro cops already use it enough.
I define a “Save” as: While at least 10 mph over the Posted Speed Limit any action to reduce speed that was provoked by no other reason than an alert from my detector.

My 9500i beats my buddy’s V1 on a Ka alert in Washington State. It’s only by a split second, but it still alerts first. It also ramps up faster.

Pardon the mirror in the way! Traveling west on Murray Ln. in Brentwood, TN just past BHS I ran into one of the sneakiest speed traps the city can set up. I’ve seen this one a time or 2 before and just so happened to have the camera rolling thinking they would be out. Not to give them any ideas but that would be a sick instant-on trap. The sound barrier significantly reduced the range of my top-of-the-line radar detector so I you drive with anything short of a Bel, Escort or V1 and your would be toast in that type of situation. Notice the Soccer mom in the SUV in front of me hit her brakes right after I flash my lights. May have saved her from a couple hundred dollars in fines and insurance! Was going about 44 in a 35 (definitely grounds for a ticket in B-wood) prior to the warning.
Massachusetts State Police troopers are aimed and ready during a LIDAR gun traffic check on I-391 between Holyoke and Chicopee. As the speed gun’s laser beam pegs the approaching POV you can hear the ESCORT Passport 8500 x50 radar detector sound the alarm.
Traveling North on Hwy 31 just south of the Brentwood Business district. My longest save so far but not a true save because I wasn’t speeding (at least when my RD alerted). I got 1.1 miles advance warning prior to passing the cop. If you’re looking for a good radar detector Escort is the way to go!

ok i was driving and thought to show you guys how far the range is.
My 9500i saving me from a school zone speed trap where the speed drops from 45 to 25. The cop was hiding at the base of a hill and would shoot you with his gun as you crested. Unfortunately, he made a rookie error; he left his radar unit in his motorcycle on which the 9500i detected at a good distance away.
I was on the highway and the city was repairing the road. They had the whole place surrounded by devices that would clock your speed. In this video i started recording late,but it had picked it up before we entered highway.
