This video compares the K band sensitivity of Escort's Passport 9500ci remote installed radar detector and Beltronic's sti Driver windshield mount radar detector. The sti's K and Ka band sensitivity is excellent compared to other windshield mount radar detectors, and its K and Ka band performance is nearly identical to all other current production model Beltronics and Escort windshield mount radar detectors. Only one other windshield mount radar detector has slightly better K and Ka band sensitivity. That radar detector is the Valentine V1. Yet the sti and the V1 perform rather similarly in real world testing due to the sti's excellent firmware detection algorithms. On the other hand, the 9500ci has K and Ka band sensitivity which quite simply is superb. The 9500ci's K and Ka band sensitivity is significantly better than any other radar detector model available on the market today, with the exception of the Beltronics sti-R which offers identical performance and which is the remote installed version of the sti. So, in a nutshell, the 9500ci and sti-R are without a doubt the two topmost performing radar detectors available today from any manufacturer. And no, I do not work for Escort or Beltronics, nor am I affiliated with Escort or Beltronics in any way. So, please enjoy the video. Yeah, I know that I need to get a real video camera.
Bel Express 925, Bel Vector 995 rev.6.3, Escort Passport 8500 X50 rev. 6.3, Whistler Pro78 rev.C, Bel Pro RX65e rev. 6.4 vs. Fotorapid C photoradar (K band – 24.125 GHz). All units in Highway mode, X-K-Ka ON, POP-SWS OFF (RX65e narrow KaN1-KaN2).
Athermic windshield decreased performance, so it’s the worst case scenario.
