This is a comparison of the Trapster system on a Windows mobile device (Samsung Omnia) and Trapster on a Garmin PND (Garmin 265WT) and the Escort 9500ix Radar detector. All Trapster devices were set at default distance notifications. The Escort 9500ix has no adjustment. This video also indicates the signage placement of the signs associated with the Pima County’s Speed Enforcement Zone Until you get fairl close to the signs you can not clearly see the Speed Limit Sign.
Both detectors belong to my friend(aka claya91). He was using a bushnell K band radar gun and we did some around-the-bend testing. Not the most scientific testing, and yes I know that running 2 rd’s at once can affect performance so don’t go screaming at me about that. They weren’t that close together so I don’t think it mattered too much. And sorry about the camera shaking and moving, it was just sitting on the back headrest because we didn’t have a camera man
Engineers from Escort radar demonstrate on how easy it is to update your firmware and software for the Escort 9500ix with their software tools. Just load up their software, log in to the net, plug in your Escort 9500ix and press a few buttons, thats all. In just a few minutes your GPS enabled radar detector will have all the new updates on the locations of the fixed photo radar and red light cameras. While youre updating the GPS, the software will also check to confirm that you also have the latest firmware installed on the best radar detector ever made, the 9500ix.
While headed north on Franklin Pike in Brentwood, I got 2 quick blips of K radar. Spec Display and ramp-up confirmed that it was probably police radar. As I passed him I noticed his driver window was down. Turned into the parking lot and also noticed he was using an Ultralyte laser gun for whatever reason (not in video). I was going 46 in 35 zone and was not the original targeted car so that is why it is a save. Verrry Naahhcee. Wasn’t to happy to see the BPD car also using laser for the first time when I circled around. Nashville Metro cops already use it enough.
I define a “Save” as: While at least 10 mph over the Posted Speed Limit any action to reduce speed that was provoked by no other reason than an alert from my detector.
Here is the 9500 IX in action against Ka Band which is used by the CHP here in California. PLEASE keep in mind that there is a slight delay because I have to hit the record button at the start of each video when an alert is heard.
