Even the el cheapo laser detectors do pick up a scatter sometimes. It’s worth it in that sense IMO. But of course if you’re the only car on an open road, it’s better to drive near the speed limit.
I like the mount that you have. I run my STI low because my windshield is on a heavy angle, and I plan on getting a V1 to run above it. I agree with Laser Detection not doing much, but at least you know when you’re screwed right? haha
Yes and no. If you get some kind of reflection from someone in front of you the alert will help. It happens surprisingly often. I usually get 5-10 seconds to slow down. If you’re leading the way, then yes, you’re toasted.
Yea dude, i’m familiar, Just with telling you that ive been stopped with instant-on. I know with laser its even worst. What i meant to say is that the mirror was going to block the rear view of my radar detector.
BTW, I mounted my ix on the middle of my windshield during the laser detection test you referred to. My car was targeted out to 1000′ and my ix NEVER alerted to laser yet the person with the gun was getting continuous speed readings off the rear license plate of my car. So many people are dooped into thinking laser detectors will save them. It’s like instant-on. You can’t slow down in time. Hardwire high to hide the detector from crooks, cops if you get stopped and for better radar detection.
Laser detection is pointless. It’s a fancy sounding feature that probably serves to sell radar detectors. The instance an officer targets you with laser, you’re raped, even if you get an alert. LEOs can get your speed in less than a half a second. You’ll need a jammer for laser. Passive countermeasures don’t work alone.
Yea but then the mirror will block the rear laser. I tried that. I still have to see that one you did with the laser alert, don’t have time now but i will later. =)

You need to get it hardwired high! Nice video.
