so i got a question for everybody.. i hav a choice of the whistler XTR 695, or the Escort 8500…. whick is better? is one alot better than the other?

Just found out he doesnt sell the v1 yet on his site he rates it 4.5?
Save your money and buy the v1 if you want a good radar that you can always upgrade later. With the escort you gotta buy a new one once it gets outdated which is why Roy probably sells the escort. The consumer has to keep coming back to him to buy it every few years. With the v1 you buy it once and just pay a fee to upgrade it.

This test is not just dumb its very stupid…. Shows his bias by not including the valentine 1 which would roast these detectors. I believe he gets some commision from escort because he never has anything good to say about valentine 1 (or he doesnt include it in his tests like this video when its in the same price range as all of them.)

V1, Costs 500$ and Its has the arrows future which tells you where is the radar.
RX65, Cost 270$ and its powerful machine, for crisis shake the guy in the video just called it the ” Hammer “.
and My Hammer sure make a Big Smile on my face

One other thing … you REALLY need a laser jammer to go with your detector if you want to be protected. If it’s not in your budget, at least get a laser shield ($20 – $25) for your front license plate. “Veil” ($100 for several applications) for the headlights is a good idea, too. Laser Shield and Veil are both availble through Radar Roy and elsewhere.

What is he talking about Ku band? I thought the FAA made it clear that they are not approving anymore radar frequencies…?
Also, why doesn’t Roy test the Valentine One? Is it because V1 can only be bought direct from the manufacturer and Roy can’t sell it? Even so, it should be included in any credible test. I have the V1 and won’t leave home without it! Others may have caught up and might alert 1/4 of a second sooner, but I’ll trade that for knowing exactly where “the man” is any day.

You’ve helped me a lot
I just got a speed ticket for going 70 on a 50… considering I’m a commercial driver, tickets are devastating for us.

You forgot this quote from the testing.
“The BEL STi Driver’s climbed to 154 degrees F in 62 minutes. At that point one STi shut itself down, displaying a “Service Required” warning message. The other followed suit after 80 minutes, having reached a temperature of 163 degrees F. I verified that neither was detecting any band of radar.”

The V1 fails miserably if left in a car in sunny conditions and windows rolled up. Two V1s were left in an audi, reached 175 degrees F (common with rolled up windows). One quit detecting X, and K bands, the other quit detecting X and Ka bands. However they were both left on.. don’t know many people who leave their detectors on when they’re not in the car.
PS, the Bel STi shuts itself off before reaching dangerous heat levels.
