im looking to get a radar detector and im looking at the Escort Passport 8500 X50. i would get the V1 but its out of my budget. i know that the 8500 X50 detects laser but does it also jam it? whats the point of it detecting laser if it doesnt jam it? its already to late!!!
good point about jamming laser. never speed unless there is a bunch of vehicles, and if you can, try to stay in the right lane just behind another vehicle. the 995 beltronics is a good radar detector as well. so are the newest versions of the whistler. check out all of websites. beltronics.com vector.com whistler.com but stay away from cobra and uniden. Trust ME… I own two 795 series detectors from beltronis and they do good. the 895 is a bit better, and the 995 can operate off of AA batteries, comes with a carry case, leather, and power cord as well. these can usually be found in radio shack. the others, like whistler, can be found in Walmart. Drive safe and God Bless…..hope this helps in your selection. P.S. if you want a radar jammer/laser phaser, you will have to spend around 500 plus, and no the V1 does not do either. the black widow is one that may still offer that kind of setup. its a permanent fix in your car or truck, though.

None of these detectors jam laser (or radar for that matter), but there is a big difference b/w the two. The Valentine detects all around and the escort is one dimensional. It is a tremendous difference. I used to get a speeding ticket once or twice a year with my escort. Not so with the V. You can pick up a V1 at amazon or yahoo shopping for 450 dollars, and on ebay for even less. Given the average traffic ticket is more than $200, the unit will pay for itself soon enough. I’ve had my V1 for over 10 yars (I just upgraded to the new one last year), and I would ask you not to waste 350 hard earned dollars on an item that your license and wallet will depend on for hopefully many years. Be safe. I hope that helps.

The least expensive laser jammer available is the Blinder M25 X-Treme, at around $430. The Blinder M25 only provides jamming for the front OR back of your vehicle. If you want laser jamming for both front AND back of your vehicle, the best option is the Blinder M45 X-Treme, at around $680. If the V1 is out of your budget, any laser jammer is too.
The Beltronics STi Driver is the best windshield-mounted radar detector in annual independent testing by Speed Measurement Labs and 1stRadarDetectors.com. The Bel STi Driver provides the best detection over the greatest distances with the least number of false alerts and 100% invisibility to police radar detector detectors. The Valentine One radar detector comes in a close second, with the following 3 radar detectors rounding out the top 5 radar detectors in the world: Escort Passport 9500i, Escort Passport 8500 X50, and Beltronics Pro RX65. See the source link for a comparison and links to all of these products. No K40 radar detectors are in the top 5.
Speed Measurement Labs and 1stRadarDetectors.com just finished this year’s testing in El Paso, Texas. The Bel STi Driver still provides the best performance, with the Valentine One in second place.
There are a lot of integrated radar detector/laser jammer systems. See my sources for a link to Prowler Remote Systems. But, as mentioned, if you’re trying to keep a low budget, you won’t be buying one of those, either.
I use a Bel STi Driver combined with the Blinder M45 X-Treme Laser Jammer. I have never had a speeding ticket with these devices installed. (I had one speeding ticket before I installed these devices.) I have picked up dozens of radar signals and blocked several lasers. I keep both devices hidden in my sun visors, and that also keeps the Bel STi up high where it can pick up signals from further away.
